Web Wise Seniors Statement of Privacy

Web Wise Seniors is committed to protecting your privacy and developing technology that gives you the most powerful and safe online experience. This Web Wise Seniors Statement of Privacy applies to Web Wise Seniors's Web Wise Seniors family of Web sites and governs data collection and usage at all Web Wise Seniors sites and services. Please read the complete Web Wise Seniors Statement of Privacy below and also click the links following this paragraph to learn additional details about how some of Web Wise Seniors's sites and services protect your personal information.

Collection of your Personal Information

At some sites, Web Wise Seniors collects personally identifiable information, such as your e-mail address, name, home or work address or telephone number. At other sites, Web Wise Seniors collects anonymous demographic information, that is not unique to you, such as your ZIP code, age, gender, preferences, interests and favorites. Some sites collect a combination of the two types of information. Information collected at one Web Wise Seniors Web site may be shared within the Web Wise Seniors family of Web sites.

Web Wise Seniors does not associate sensitive data, such as your race, religion, or political affiliations, with personally identifiable information. Web Wise Seniors takes precautions to segregate any sensitive data you may provide on Web Wise Seniors sites and services that reference your race, religion, sexual orientation, ethnicity or political affiliations.

Please keep in mind that if you directly disclose personally identifiable information or personally sensitive data through Web Wise Seniors Chats, Web Wise Seniors Communities, or other public online forums, this information may be collected and used by others. Note: Web Wise Seniors does not read any of your private online communications. Your Web Wise Seniors Chat conversations, Web Wise Seniors Messenger messages, Webmail e-mails, and Web Wise Seniors Internet Access e-mails are completely confidential.

Web Wise Seniors encourages you to review the privacy statements of Web sites you choose to link to from Web Wise Seniors so that you can understand how those Web sites collect, use and share your information. Web Wise Seniors is not responsible for the privacy statements or other content on Web sites outside of the Web Wise Seniors and Web Wise Seniors family of Web sites.

There is also information about your computer hardware and software that is automatically collected by Web Wise Seniors and may be shared with other Web sites within the Web Wise Seniors family of web sites. This information can include: your IP address, browser type, domain names, access times and referring Web site addresses. This information is used by Web Wise Seniors for the operation of the service, to maintain quality of the service, and to provide general statistics regarding use of the Web Wise Seniors Web sites.

Use of your Personal Information

Web Wise Seniors sites also use your personally identifiable information to inform you of other products or services available from Web Wise Seniors and its affiliates. Web Wise Seniors may also contact you via surveys to conduct research about your opinion of current services or of potential new services that may be offered.

Web Wise Seniors does not sell, rent or lease its customer lists to third parties. Web Wise Seniors may, from time to time, contact you on behalf of external business partners about a particular offering that may be of interest to you. In those cases, your unique personally identifiable information (e-mail, name, address, telephone number) is not transferred to the third party. In addition, Web Wise Seniors may share data with trusted partners to help us perform statistical analysis. All such third parties are prohibited from using your personal information except to provide these services to Web Wise Seniors, and they are required to maintain the confidentiality of your information.

Use of Cookies

Many of the Web Wise Seniors Web sites use "cookies" to help you personalize your online experience. A cookie is a text file that is placed on your hard disk by a Web page server. Cookies cannot be used to run programs or deliver viruses to your computer. Cookies are uniquely assigned to you, and can only be read by a web server in the domain that issued the cookie to you.

One of the primary purposes of cookies is to provide a convenience feature to save you time. The purpose of a cookie is to tell the Web server that you have returned to a specific page. For example, if you personalize Web Wise Seniors's pages, or register with Web Wise Seniors sites or services, a cookie helps Web Wise Seniors to recall your specific information on subsequent visits. This simplifies the process of recording your personal information, such as billing addresses, shipping addresses, and so on. When you return to the same Web Wise Seniors Web site, the information you previously provided can be retrieved, so you can easily use the Web Wise Seniors features that you customized.

You have the ability to accept or decline cookies. Most Web browsers automatically accept cookies, but you can usually modify your browser setting to decline cookies if you prefer. If you choose to decline cookies, you may not be able to fully experience the interactive features of the Web Wise Seniors services or Web sites you visit.

Use of Web Beacons

Web Wise Seniors Web pages may contain electronic images known as Web beacons - sometimes called single-pixel gifs - that allow Web Wise Seniors to count users who have visited those pages and to deliver co-branded services. Web Wise Seniors may include web beacons in promotional e-mail messages or Web Wise Seniors Newsletters in order to count how many messages have been opened and acted upon. Web beacons are not used to access your personally identifiable information on the Web Wise Seniors network of sites and services; they are a technique we use to compile aggregated statistics about Web Wise Seniors Web site usage.

Web beacons collect only a limited set of information including a cookie number, time and date of a page view, and a description of the page on which the Web beacon resides. Web Wise Seniors Web pages may also contain Web beacons placed there by our advertising partner, Avenue A, to help Web Wise Seniors determine the effectiveness of our Internet advertising campaigns.

Use of Third Party Ad Networks

The majority of the online banner advertisements you see on Web Wise Seniors Web sites are displayed by Web Wise Seniors.

In addition, Web Wise Seniors also allows other companies, called third-party ad servers or ad networks, to display advertisements on Web Wise Seniors Web sites. To do this, ad networks place a persistent cookie on your computer. Doing this allows the ad network to recognize your computer each time they send you an online advertisement. In this way, ad networks may compile information about where you, or others who are using your computer, saw their advertisements and determine which ads are clicked on. This information allows an ad network to deliver advertisements that they believe will be of most interest to you. Web Wise Seniors does not have access to or control of the cookies that may be placed by the third-party ad servers or ad networks.

Control your Personal Information

You may stop the delivery of future promotional e-mail from Web Wise Seniors Web sites by following the specific instructions in the e-mail you receive. The instructions explain how to stop receiving such e-mails.

There are some Web sites, including Web Wise Seniors Webmail, that send out periodic e-mails informing you of technical service issues, product surveys, new feature announcements and news about Web Wise Seniors products and services. These e-mails are considered essential to the provision of the service you have requested. You will not be able to choose to unsubscribe to these mailings, as they are considered a part of the service you have chosen.

Security of your Personal Information

Web Wise Seniors secures your personal information from unauthorized access, use or disclosure. Web Wise Seniors secures the personally identifiable information you provide on computer servers in a controlled, secure environment, protected from unauthorized access, use or disclosure. Personal information (such as a credit card number) is transmitted to other Web sites through the use of Secure Socket Layer (SSL) encrypted protection.
